• Southern Alameda County General Election Endorsement Meeting

    Southern Alameda County endorsement meeting will be on

    Sunday, September 23, 2012 beginning at 12:00 PM.

    The address is 5920 South Magazine Road, Newark (behind 24 hour Fitness near Newpark Mall).             Refreshments will be served.

    The following candidates have submitted questionnaires and have been scheduled to be interviewed for endorsement.

    Interviews will begin at 12:10 PM and progress in race order.

    Each candidate will be allowed 2 minutes for opening statements followed by questions and answers from the membership.

    The following candidates have submitted questionnaires for paper review only, there will be no personal interviews. Recommendations for endorsement will be presented by our Endorsement Committee.

    Fremont Unified School District

    Hayward Unified School District


    Caucus members will have a group discussion at the completion of all the interviews after which ballots will be collected for tabulation. The results will be posted on this website as soon as possible.

    Per Caucus By-Laws (rev. 11/2011):

    Article II, Section 4. Voting rights: Only those members whose dues are paid for the current year shall be eligible to vote, to hold office, or to be named as delegates to other bodies. Others including visitors may participate in discussion or may address the club at the discretion of the chair. APA Caucus members receive voting rights after 30 days of paid membership OR, for prior members in good standing within the past year, immediately upon renewal of the membership dues.

    Article IX. Endorsements: All endorsements must get 60% of votes of the eligible members present and voting on the office or issue in question provided that the membership was notified that endorsements would be entertained in its notice of the meetings, and at least 7 days in advance of the meeting.  Dual endorsements shall be permitted.   Additionally, all ballots shall contain spaces for eligible members to vote for “No Endorsement” or to “Abstain” and such  votes shall be considered for the purposes of determining the required 60% threshold for endorsement.
